Independent Living Systems Hosts Ribbon Cutting for New Pharmacy to Provide Comprehensive Care, Home Delivery to Miami Area Seniors

Date: December 21, 2023

Independent Living Systems recently held a ribbon cutting for the first ILS pharmacy, a new pharmacy solution that provides comprehensive services to ensure safe, on-time, and accurate prescriptions and over-the-counter medication delivery to Miami’s senior living community.

ILS’ pharmacy is a partnership that combines the expertise of Independent Living Systems, a leading provider of health and social services for complex populations in the Medicare, Medicaid, and Dual-Eligible markets, with pharmacy expert PharMerica, a leading national pharmacy services provider.”We are excited to open the first ILS pharmacy in Miami and share our unique patient-centered care approach to medication with our most vulnerable patients and families”, said Nestor Plana, Chairman and CEO of independent Living Systems. “An independent living pharmacy goes beyond simply providing traditional medication services- it delivers exceptional care to senior living communities, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living centers, and individuals who choose to age in the comfort of their own home.”

“At our pharmacy, our commitment is to provide value beyond medication to Miami’s senior living community”, said Allen Whisler, Senior Director at the facility. “We are thrilled to implement our new hands-on, innovative approach to medication management to significantly improve the health outcomes of the seniors we serve and become the go-to, trusted pharmacy for safe and accurate medications.”

The pharmacy launch is a larger ILS commitment to home care services after recently being licensed as a Home Medical Equipment Provider, meaning that it can provide critical durable medical equipment for the home to partnering health care organizations and the general public, and expanding its home health business.
