Miami (September 2026) – Independent Living Systems (ILS) is proud to once again support the Alzheimer’s Association by participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s events taking place across the country this fall.
As a national team member and longtime supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association, ILS employees, families and partners will join thousands of participants nationwide to raise awareness and funds in support of Alzheimer’s care, education, support services and research. The company’s participation reflects ILS’s ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable populations and the communities it serves.
This year, more than 150 ILS employees, family members and supporters are expected to participate in Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in communities across the United States. In addition to employee fundraising efforts, ILS is supporting numerous Walk events through corporate sponsorships and local community engagement.
Alzheimer’s disease affects more than 7 million Americans, with that number expected to grow significantly in the coming decades as the nation’s population ages. The disease remains one of the most significant health challenges facing older adults and their families, creating emotional, physical and financial burdens for millions of caregivers nationwide.
In Florida, ILS is supporting Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in Broward, Fort Myers, Miami-Dade, Orlando, Palm Beach, Tallahassee, Tampa and the Treasure Coast. ILS is also sponsoring walks in New York and California, where a large number of employees live.
“At Independent Living Systems, many of the individuals and families we serve are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia,” said Nestor Plana, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Independent Living Systems. “Supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a natural extension of our mission and our commitment to helping vulnerable populations live healthier, more connected lives. We are proud to stand alongside our employees, partners and communities in support of this important cause.”
ILS has a longstanding relationship with the Alzheimer’s Association and has consistently ranked among the organization’s leading corporate supporters. Through employee fundraising, volunteer engagement, corporate sponsorships and participation in Walk to End Alzheimer’s events, ILS has helped advance efforts to support individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, their families and caregivers.
Earlier this year, Mr. Plana was honored with the Alzheimer’s Association Ray of Hope Award in recognition of his decades of leadership and advocacy on behalf of older adults and individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Through his vision, ILS has remained committed to delivering compassionate, community-based care that supports not only those facing cognitive decline but also the families and caregivers who walk alongside them.
