Statewide gathering will bring together hundreds of care managers and care coordinators to learn, collaborate and strengthen person-centered care

MIAMI, Fla. (October 2026) – Independent Living Systems (ILS) and its Florida health plans, Florida Community Care (FCC), which serves Medicaid members, and Florida Complete Care (FC2), a Medicare Advantage plan, today announced plans for their first-ever Care Manager Summit, bringing together care managers and care coordinators from across Florida for a day focused on learning, collaboration and strengthening the delivery of person-centered, comprehensive health and social care for vulnerable populations.
The summit represents the latest investment in a care management team that has grown significantly during 2026. In January, ILS’ Medicaid and Medicare health plans, celebrated reaching 500 care managers across Florida through its #500CMStrong campaign. Today, the organization has grown to over 650 care management staff, a significant increase in less than a year, reflecting the continued growth of ILS and its and the increasing number of members they serve.
Care managers are at the center of ILS’ person-centered model, helping coordinate medical, behavioral and social services while connecting members with providers, resources and home and community-based services. The inaugural summit will give those professionals an opportunity to come together in person, learn from one another, share ideas and best practices, and strengthen connections across teams serving communities throughout Florida.
“Our care managers spend every day focused on the needs of our members, and this summit is about investing in them,” said Tatiana Pita, Senior Vice President of Care Management. “Bringing our teams together gives us an opportunity to learn from one another, share what is working in communities across Florida and strengthen the relationships that make great care management possible. As our team grows, maintaining that connection and shared sense of purpose becomes even more important.”
The summit comes during a period of strong growth for FCC, ILS’ Medicaid plan. According to September 2026 enrollment data from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, Florida Community Care is the state’s largest Medicaid long-term care plan, and it has grown beyond its original long-term care population to serve a wider range of Medicaid members. FCC now offers Managed Medical Assistance and Long-Term Care coverage, as well as specialized plans for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, severe mental illness, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
FC2, ILS’ Medicare Advantage plan, similarly relies on its care management teams to help coordinate care and connect members with services and resources that support their health and independence.
“When we celebrated 500 care managers earlier this year, we said that milestone represented our commitment to investing in the people who deliver care. Today, with over 650 teammates on the care management team in Florida and our first Care Manager Summit ahead of us, that commitment is stronger than ever,” said Nestor Plana, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Independent Living Systems. “Growth is important, but what matters most is making sure our people have the knowledge, tools and support they need to make a difference in the lives of the members and families who depend on us.”
Additional details about the summit will be announced as the event approaches.
