MIAMI—Independent Living Systems (ILS), a privately owned Miami-based national health care services company and one the nation’s largest provider of high-quality, dietician-designed meals to the elderly, special needs, and at-risk populations, announced that Wednesday, November 24 will be a Day of Giving. The company will be providing 12 area not-for-profits with nearly 700 hot meals. “Our mission from the beginning has been to make people’s lives better by improving the quality of care and nutritional health for frail elders, persons with disabilities, and those in underserved communities,” said company founder and CEO, Nestor Plana.
Recipient organizations include Association for the Development of the Exceptional (ADE) Central, ADE Homestead, ADE North, Dolphin Group Home, Gator Group Home, Las Palmas I, Las Palmas II, MacTown ICF, Marlin Group Home, Miami Learning Experience, Oakgrove Group Home, and Panther Group Home. Additional meals will be delivered over the holidays to The WOW Center in Miami, an organization that provides quality programs and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
The WOW Center teaches daily independent living skills required to live, work, and play in the community. These meals will be served after Thanksgiving. “Good nutrition plays a critical role in keeping people healthy,” added Plana. “That’s why we made it a priority for our company to provide medically-tailored home delivered meals to help individuals improve health outcomes and achieve a well-maintained nutritional health status.”
