Miami, FL. (June 2026) Florida Community Care (FCC), a statewide Medicaid managed care health plan serving Florida’s most vulnerable populations, is proud to join the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and fellow Medicaid health plans as a founding partner of “From the Start,” a new initiative designed to elevate maternal health throughout the state for pregnant women on Florida Medicaid.
Announced last month, at a roundtable event hosted by Baptist Health Jacksonville, From the Start aligns efforts across all health plans participating in the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care (SMMC) program to deliver the same enhanced, evidence-based services to pregnant members — from early pregnancy notification through the first year postpartum.
Florida Medicaid covers nearly half of all births statewide, making this initiative a meaningful opportunity to create real, measurable improvements in maternal and infant health across the state.
Through ‘From the Start,’ FCC and all participating health plans will offer the same enhanced evidenced based services geared towards improving pre and postnatal outcomes. Highlights include:
“Florida Community Care is committed to coordinating care for Florida’s most vulnerable populations. I applaud Secretary Harris on aligning the focus of all Medicaid health plans to streamline access to the continuum of care for pregnant women and babies in the Medicaid Program,” said Abby Riddle, President of Florida Community Care. “The ‘From the Start’ campaign will increase awareness on the importance of perinatal care and remove administrative barriers for our members and provider partners.
FCC’s participation in From the Start reflects the health plan’s longstanding commitment to whole-person care for Florida Medicaid members. FCC was honored to join Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Shevaun L. Harris, the Florida Department of Children and Families, Sunshine Health, Baptist Health Jacksonville, and the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition at the kickoff event.
