David Gutwald is senior vice president of payer services for Independent Living Systems (ILS). In this role, Gutwald focuses primarily on the company’s third-party administration (TPA) business. He oversees all aspects of TPA operations, including new client implementation and configuration, member eligibility, claims adjudication and payments, provider call centers, printing and fulfillment, and operational and regulatory reporting.

Prior to joining ILS, Gutwald served as the chief operating officer of CarePoint Health Plans, where he managed the operations of a new Medicare Advantage plan.

Gutwald earned his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Maryland.
