Independent Living Systems Named Finalist for South Florida Business Journal’s 2025 “Company of the Year” For the Second Consecutive Year

(February 2025) – Independent Living Systems (ILS), a leading provider of health and social services for vulnerable populations in Medicare, Medicaid, and Dual-Eligible markets, is proud to be named a finalist for the 2025 South Florida Business Journal Company of the Year Award — marking the second year in a row the company has received this prestigious recognition.

The selection acknowledges the company’s exceptional leadership, innovation, financial growth, and community impact. Judges evaluated ILS across multiple key areas, including its rapid expansion — becoming the largest private Latino-owned healthcare organization in the US, according to Latino Leaders magazine – as well as its philanthropic efforts and commitment to serving the most vulnerable populations.

In the past year, ILS has achieved several significant milestones that were part of the South Florida Business Journal nomination, including:

• The company’s health plan subsidiary, Florida Community Care (FCC), was recently awarded a new Medicaid contract to provide care for Florida’s most vulnerable residents including moms, kids, HIV/AIDS patients, and people with serious mental illness.
• FCC was selected by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to manage a managed care plan for individuals with developmental disabilities, further solidifying its leadership in specialized healthcare.
• ILS teamed with the Ritz Carlton Leadership Center to create the “ILS Experience” – an employee driven initiative to enhance the customer and employee experience.
• Corporate Social Responsibility: ILS and its employees across the country raised funds in support of the Alzheimer’s Association, reinforcing the company’s dedication to funding and attention to a disease that effects nearly 7 million Americans
