Month-long campaign highlights the importance of making informed food choices

and including flavorful foods as part of a healthful eating plan.

ILS is proud to join the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics during March in celebrating National Nutrition Month®. This year’s National Nutrition Month theme is Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right and focuses on combining taste and nutrition to create healthy meals that follow the recommendations of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

At ILS, we understand the importance of nutrition. says Lily Suazo, Nutrition and Wellness Director for ILS. Consuming healthy meals can lower chronic disease risk, slow disease progression and reduce disease symptoms. Our Nutritional Support Services include healthy, nutritious, tasty meals as well as nutritional counseling. The combination of these services dramatically reduces hospital readmissions and lengths of stay.

Initiated in 1973 as a week-long event, National Nutrition Week became a month-long observance in 1980 in response to growing public interest in nutrition. Additionally, to commemorate the dedication of registered dietitian nutritionists as advocates for advancing the nutritional health of Americans and people around the world, the second Wednesday of March has been designated Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day. This year, RDN Day will be celebrated on March 12.

ILS will promote National Nutrition Month with articles, videos, recipes, facts and other engaging postings on their social media pages. You may join in on the fun by following ILS on their Facebook or Twitter page.
