Nestor Plana

Founder, Chairman and CEO

Nestor Plana is the founder, President, and CEO of Independent Living Systems (ILS), a health services company focused on improving the aging experience for millions of America’s elderly, special needs and dual-eligible individuals, while rebalancing costs for healthcare plans and providers. He has over 25 years of experience in healthcare and public and private development and management. Nestor previously served as a founding President and COO of Beacon Health Plan in South Florida, was a senior executive with Mercy Hospital Systems, has served on the Florida Long-Term Care Committee, and held the Chairmanship of United Home Health Care.


Michael Leavitt

Board Member

Michael Leavitt is founder and Chairman of Leavitt Partners, a healthcare intelligence business. Prior, Leavitt served as the Secretary of Health and Human Services from 2005 to 2009, during which time he focused on issues including Medicare and Medicaid reform and health information technology development. He also served as Governor of Utah for nearly 11 years (1993-2003) and as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from 2003 to 2005.

Jay Rosen is founder and president of Health Management Associates, one of the nation’s leading health policy and health economics consulting companies, with a special focus on issues related to Medicaid, Medicare, SCHIP, and other major publicly-financed programs. Prior to founding HMA, Rosen served as the director of Planning and Policy Development in the Michigan Office of Health and Medical Affairs.

Jacqueline B. Kosecoff

Board Member

Dr. Jacqueline B. Kosecoff is Managing Partner at Moriah Partners, LLC, a private equity firm with a focus on software, content and services, and is a Senior Advisor to Warburg Pincus, a global private equity company. Prior to these roles, Dr. Kosecoff served as a Senior Advisor at Optum, as Chief Executive Officer of OptumRx and before that, Chief Executive Officer of Ovations Pharmacy Solutions Division, a UnitedHealth Group company. She has been a consultant to the World Health Organization’s Global Quality Assessment Programs, on the Institute of Medicine’s Board of Health Care Services and on the RAND Graduate School’s Board of Governors.


Mark DiSalvo

Mark DiSalvo is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sema4, Inc., a leading global provider of Private Equity funds-under-management taking over distressed Venture, PE and Hedge fund entities, mostly in the health care sector. Prior to this role, DiSalvo was a senior executive at Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC, and was founder of Hall, Berwick and DiSalvo which provided funding and advisory services to zero and first stage entities. He has extensive experience in entrepreneurial management, particularly as to underserved markets and economic development.


Bill Altman

Board Member

William M. Altman, J.D., M.A. serves as senior advisor and consultant to health and post-acute care organizations nation-wide. During his 23-year years at Kindred Healthcare, Bill served as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief of Staff to the CEO. He also oversaw Kindred’s federal and state policy initiatives. Bill was a member of Kindred’s Executive Committee and spear-headed development of the company’s enterprise continuum of care strategy to position Kindred for hospital and managed care partnerships and value-based payment.
